Delicious veggie dinner these evening

Feeling in need of something healthy and satisfying having spent the day battling wind and rain, I decided it was time for something new. This recipe, given to me by a guest who stayed a few weeks ago, was heart in mouth throughout but it worked brilliantly and head chef was impressed. So here it is and shall look forward to repeating it again when the family are home over Christmas. 500g puff pastry 250g cherry tomatoes 4 tablespoons green olive tapenade 4 teaspoons mascarpone cheese Roll out...

Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea

This is something special at Charcott Farmhouse.  We often find that guests arrive tired and stressed after a long drive with slow and crowded motorways and by the time they get here they are  sorely in need of the chance to relax and chill out.   On arrival at Charcott they are welcomed into the house, shown their room and are then offered the chance to sit down either in the guests’ sitting room or, if the weather is kind, outside on the terrace, with a large pot of tea or...

Computer Nightmares

We have been beseiged with computer problems over the last few weeks.  Finally our much loved very ancient family PC blew up last weekend with a spectacular puff of smoke and a large bang.   A panicked callout of our lovely computer expert resulted in a trip to John Lewis and we are now the proud owners of a very smart laptop which we are still, 10 days later,  trying to find our way around.  Being a pair of computer dinosaurs this is not proving easy!  I have already done half the...

Our favourite way with Runner Beans

Our favourite way with Runner Beans

I promised to put our favourite family recipe for runner beans on the website ages ago – see my original post on Runner Beans.  Busy times have prevented this so far but finally, for those of you who, like us, planted late and still have beans in the garden, here it is.  Otherwise it works well with frozen beans. The story behind it goes back years ago to my flat-sharing days in London during the ’70’s, arriving home from work one...
